Grief Recovery

Many kinds of loss affect our lives including:  death, divorce, job loss, moving, pet loss, and changes in health and finances.  In the midst of grief, many of us look for an understanding of what’s normal and natural, a respect for our individuality, and resources for coping and healing.

Grief is natural, but many of the ideas we’ve been taught about dealing with grief are not helpful.  There is information to help us make sense of our experience of loss and create our own steps forward.  If you’re seeking insight and information to cope with and recover from loss in your life, I’d like to help.  Here are two ways.

Personal Coaching

As your coach, I will deeply listen.  I’ll assist you to identify the strengths you have and the resources you need, and I’ll accompany you as you explore options, make choices and take steps to recreate your world.

The Grief Recovery Method®

You may find this program outlined in The Grief Recovery Handbook: The Action Program for Moving Beyond Death, Divorce, and Other Losses including Health, Career and Faith, written by John W. James and Russell Friedman, founders of The Grief Recovery Institute.  As a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist licensed by The Institute, I’ll coach you toward recovery from loss through one-to-one meetings and homework based on the book and accompanying format. I offer support and guidance which is both educational and heartfelt.  Together, we question assumptions about grief, identify losses affecting your life, and take steps to heal what was left emotionally unfinished by loss.  You may expect ‘aha!’ moments of insight and warm moments of feeling affirmed.  You’ll gain skills for responding to loss that will serve you a lifetime.
