Many kinds of loss affect our lives including: death, divorce, job loss, moving, pet loss, and changes in health and finances. In the midst of grief, many of us look for an understanding of what’s normal and natural, a respect for our individuality, and resources for coping and healing.
Grief is natural, but many of the ideas we’ve been taught about dealing with grief are not helpful. There is information to help us make sense of our experience of loss and create our own steps forward. If you’re seeking insight and information to cope with and recover from loss in your life, I’d like to help. Here are two ways.
As your coach, I will listen. I’ll assist you to identify the strengths you have and the resources you need, and I’ll accompany you as you explore options, make choices and take steps to recreate your world.
The Grief Recovery Method®
This program is outlined in The Grief Recovery Handbook: The Action Program for Moving Beyond Death, Divorce, and Other Losses including Health, Career and Faith, written by John W. James and Russell Friedman, founders of The Grief Recovery Institute. The Grief Recovery Method is the only grief support program whose effectiveness has been recognized as evidence-based. As a Grief Recovery Method Specialist licensed by The Institute, I coach individuals and groups toward recovery from loss through conversation and homework based on the book and accompanying format. Together, we question assumptions about grief, identify losses affecting your life, and take steps to heal from the pain of loss. You may expect to gain insight and confidence in a supportive environment. You’ll learn skills for responding to loss that will serve you a lifetime.
